The extra-curricular activity in Bulgarian language is aimed at developing and improving the four key competences in language learning – listening, speaking, reading and writing through storytelling, discussions, recalling stories, songs, poems, movement and language games, role-play and theatre, art and crafts.
The programme is based on the Bulgarian mother tongue curriculum adapted to the knowledge and experience of the learners. The differentiated approach is applied to meet the individual needs of the children. While children learn the Cyrillic alphabet and improve their fine motor skills and writing abilities, they are encouraged to play with the language, to invent stories and illustrate them, to advance their linguistic abilities and creativities in a friendly and supportive environment.
The activity is led by a qualified teacher with experience in teaching mother tongue to preschool and primary school children in the European Schools system.
