Laptops for eLearning
The school is now closed until 19 April officially. Nevertheless, we cannot be certain that it will reopen as planned, and it is possible that some families may be required to stay in self-isolation after the school reopens. Meanwhile, all children are expected to participate in eLearning from home, and to rely on an internet connection together with a PC and sometime printer for on-line lessons and feedback, reading material and other educational resources, completion of homework and reception of assignments/marks.
On 27 March 2020, the EEBI APEEE voted to support parents who cannnot afford to provide all of their children with the necessary PCs during this difficult period. APEEE believes that all EEBI kids should have the chance to participate fully in our remote learning programme. We propose to offer these families a basic laptop to be delivered to their home under one of two programmes:
- EITHER on extended loan to be returned to the APEEE once the mandatory distance learning arrangements due to the COVID-19 outbreak are lifted;
- OR for purchase in monthly installments to the APEEE over a 12-month period. Through a group purchase, we hope to provide a laptop suitable for students for under 400 EUR.
The supply of laptops available under these two programmes is limited, and thus selection will likely be necessary. Our primary aim in this case is to support families with demonstrated financial need, indicatively considered as 3000 EUR/month or less gross family income. All other things being equal, large families will be prioritised. Each family can apply for a single laptop.
