Football Pitch Surfacing

In February 2019, the school management requested that the APEEE and CdE co-finance the surfacing of the Uccle campus football pitch, using soft grass-like material with impact-resistant padding underneath. The pitch is located in the center of campus, between the Platon, Da Vinci, Erasmus and Michelangelo buildings and is used extensively by PE classes and during free-time activities, primarily by secondary students. The school management also committed to pay for new fencing to surround it.

Francis Pirotta Creative Arts Prize - 1st edition

Art competition for students: An annual art competition aimed at primary and nursery classes to celebrate Francis Pirotta's short but creative life and ensure that his spirit and determination remain alive through the creativity of other children. Francis Pirotta used to spend countless hours drawing. It was by far the favourite pastime and an opening into the world of this remarkable boy with an all-too-short life.
The prize is organised annually by his former teachers and carers and is awarded to whole classes. The competition is open to all language sections and is split into two age groups: Mat-P2; P3-P5. The jury consists of teachers, APEEE, the CdE (students' committee) and the Pirotta family and the final decision also considers a popular vote of primary students.
The theme for 2018-2019 is "Other Places, Other Worlds".
Debrief: The prize was already awarded to two classes (P5DK and MAT IT) in the 2018-2019 school year and is set to continue into 2019-2020.

Complex Drug and Addiction Prevention Programme for HU Secondary Classes - 3rd installment

Co-funded together with the school and parental contributions, the third round of sessions of the Complex Addiction Prevention Programme is organised for six Hungarian secondary classes (S1-S6, 120 students). The programme is designed to help teenagers explore the social, cultural and economic context of drug use and aims at developing self-awareness in students to help their decision making process. Through yearly sessions the programme builds upon knowledge and experience from the training in earlier years, but not to the exclusion of new students.
A wide variety of tools are used to help this process (lectures, team work, cooperative tasks, role playing, elements of contests, theatre and show along with corporal expression exercises and presentation). Classes work on their own with 2 professional trainers without the presence of teachers or parents, the trainers ensuring the balance and the dynamics throughout the training. The HU secondary inspector and secondary teachers are also involved.

Polish Cyber Safety Workshop

Support of a workshop for five primary classes (P2, P4 and P5) in the Polish section to take place on 20-21 May 2019. Two experts on internet safety for children with experience in schools in Poland will organise interactive workshops for the Polish sections.
Day-long workshops will be organised with the support of the class teachers impacting some 87 students. Many crucial issues will be covered, from the concept of the global net, blogs, internet stores, social media, but also topics like personal information, social networking, downloading, online grooming, cyber-bullying, gaming, digital footprints, online reputation, and many more.

Eurosport 2019 – Support for Sports Equipment

APEEE will finance the purchase of Eurosport equipment for Eurosport event to take place in Varese on 2-7 April 2019. 21 schools will compete in minifoot, volleyball, table tennis and biathlon. EEB1’s delegation will consist of 30 students from the upper-secondary cycle and four teachers. The school will pay 5500 EUR for the costs of the bus, and the families of the participants will purchase matching jackets for the team.
EEBI has taken part in Eurosport since it began in 1974, and this biannual event is still led by Mr Santagati, who for over 40 years has carefully preserved the sports materials to give them as long a life and the greatest economy possible. However, due to normal wear and tear, some of the outfits needed to be replaced periodically. The funding is intended for red and black numbered EEBI uniforms for table tennis, badminton, football and handball competitions. Special integrated outfits are also needed for the Biathlon (“aquathlon”) competition. Mr Santagati estimates that the special aquathlon suits will save the EEBI team upwards of 20 minutes (at least 1 minute per participant needed to strip down and redress). In addition, there are special shoelaces that can be opened and closed very quickly. Uniforms were purchased in boys/girls versions and in a variety of sizes to fit the current team, with the expectation that they will continue to be used by future EEB1 Eurosports teams for many years to come.
